In October 2003, Billy Thomas walked out onto a piece of property being prepared for sale. God put upon Pastor Billy’s heart to build a youth center for the youth in the middle Georgia area. In this process, a small group of people started a Bible study on Wednesday nights.
In January 2004, The Refuge held its first Sunday morning service with 21 people. Since then, The Refuge has built three facilities. First, a worship facility, then a youth and education wing, and most recently a new sanctuary.
At this current state, their mission is to continue to reach out and minister to its community.
